Dr. Lauren K. M. Smith

Dr. Lauren K. M. Smith is an emerging interdisciplinary scholar of climate behaviour, gender equity, and death care studies. Her dissertation determined human psychological responses to mortality reminders within water crisis (e.g., flooding, drought) communication and how responses to these reminders can influence views of same or differently gendered water managers. Her current research involves investigating (paid and unpaid) environmental care work and death anxiety’s influence on environmental engagement. Lauren is passionate about 2SLGBTQ+ issues in death care, green burials, and improving our personal relationship with death.
