Join us for a thought-provoking talk that delves deep into the intricate dynamics of necropolitics within the settler-colonial paradigm in Palestine/Israel.
This talk seeks to unravel the layers of power, control, and sovereignty that shape how, as conceptualized by theorists such as Achille Mbembe, state power operates not only through the management of life but also through the deliberate and systematic control of death.
Our speakers will guide us through a conversation on the necropolitical strategies employed to enforce and perpetuate Israeli dominance. Through a multidisciplinary lens from physician and public health scholars from the Palestine Program for Health and Human Rights at the FXB Center at Harvard University, we will engage with historical narratives and contemporary policies of life, disease, disability & death.
We will have a 1 hour discussion followed by a 30 minute Q&A moderated by Mohammed Nijim, PhD candidate in Sociology and Political Economy at Carleton University.
